Environmental Education
Learn about the experiential environmental education programmes we have designed.
Goal & Activities of Environmental Education
The primary mission of our school programs is to equip students with essential knowledge and skills to deeply understand the relationship between humans and nature, to acquire environmental awareness, and to integrate practices that promote sustainability into their lives.
We believe that education is not limited to knowledge but extends to experiences and values.
Our programs are adapted to the level and needs of each grade, and are aimed at students from preschool age up to Junior High School.
The activities take place at your school's premises.
Depending on the needs of the educational program or the school, the activities can be designed as single-day visits, or they can be implemented repeatedly throughout the school year.

Seasonality and the Cycle of Nature
The cycle of nature forms the foundation of our educational activities. Through contact with the soil, cultivation, observation of organisms, and understanding of natural phenomena, students perceive how nature works and what humanity's place is within it. Learning is not based on theory but on experience: through care, collaboration, and action.
By cultivating the school garden, children follow the journey of food from the seed to their plate. They learn to sow, to care for, to observe the growth of plants, and to understand basic types of crops such as cereals, legumes, and seasonal vegetables. They discuss local production, the nutritional value of food, and the principles of the Mediterranean diet. At the same time, they become familiar with concepts such as self-sufficiency, seasonality, and sustainable agri-food systems.
The protection of the soil and the preservation of its fertility are central points of our activities. Through composting and the creation of a worm farm, students get to know the life beneath their feet: microorganisms, insects, and natural decomposers that keep the soil alive. They understand that soil is not just dirt, but a whole living world that nourishes us.
Through observing the life cycle of organisms such as silkworms, ants, and bees, students understand how life evolves through the cooperation of ecosystems and the preservation of biodiversity. Special emphasis is given to pollinators, whose role is crucial for agricultural production and the balance of nature. Through AGALE's programs, the need for their protection is recognized, while students get involved in experiential activities for their protection, such as creating seed bombs, bee gardens, and insect hotels.
Students learn about the water cycle, the importance of its proper use, and its role in the balance of the environment. They discuss concepts such as soil erosion and see how fires and floods are interconnected and affect the natural cycle.
Simultaneously, they are introduced to concepts concerning the well-being of the planet and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, such as energy conservation and renewable sources: sun, wind, and natural systems that can meet our needs without depleting the planet's resources. Through simple constructions and experiential examples, students understand how energy is connected to life and how it can be produced in a way that does not harm the environment.
Each season brings with it a new opportunity for knowledge and connection with the roots of the Greek land.
Inspiration and Confidence for the Future
The activities boost students' self-confidence, cultivating responsibility, collaboration, and trust in their own abilities.
Through experiential contact with the natural environment, children develop empathy, learn to care and to observe, while gradually understanding that humans are not superior to other living beings, but part of an interdependent ecosystem.
Αγάλι-αγάλι γίνεται η αγουρίδα μέλι…
(A Greek proverb signifying that good things, much like a child's bond with nature, require time and patience to mature)
Just like the children's relationship with nature, which is built gradually, with care, experience, and time, until it becomes deep, meaningful, and true.
